sort of ~ は kind of ~ と同じくらい使われる使われる表現です。どちらも「種類」という意味で使われている定番のフレーズです。なので all kinds of things と言い換えることもできます。 口語的には比較的 sort of の方が使われているかも知れません。kind of で「まあね」という使い方がありますが sort of も同じく「まあね」という意味で使うことができます。sort of thing と複数形にならない場合は「～など／～といった類のもの」という意味になります。

sort：種類／性質／分類
sort of：まあね／多少の／いくらか
🔊［発音］
アメリカ英語では［all］は「オール」ではなく「アーォ」のイメージです。of は弱く速く発音されて sorts とつながって「ソ(ォ)ウツブ」のような発音になります。
