➡：よし、とりあえず東京に住んでいる友人たちに泊められないかメールしておいたわ。
Emi : Thanks.
➡：ありがとう。
Maria : Don’t worry. By this afternoon, I’m sure you’ll have place to stay.
➡：心配しないで、午後までにはきっと泊まるとこが見つかるはず。

相手の提案に対してお断りをする際の定番のフレーズです。offer「申し出」が具体的なのでtheが付いています。そしてそのあとの文を but...「ですが」とつないでいます。

⏩ 携帯でのメールのやり取りは texting と言います。

( I ) appreciate it：（もの・事柄に）感謝します
Well... what do you want to do in the meantime ?：さて、それまでの間何をしたい？
⏩ Wellは話題を切り替えるときなどの前置詞でよく使われます。in the meantime は「(2 つのことが起こる)その間に、それまでは」というニュアンスです。
just have to ～：～するしかない／～せざるを得ない
play it by ear：手あたり次第に／臨機応変に／出たとこ勝負でいこう
that would definitely help：それができたら助かる
⏩ 「それがあったら絶対に役に立つのに」というニュアンスになります。 that は we had a view of the whole city「町を一望する」を指しています。 wouldは仮定法で「それがあったら～するだろう」この場合の help は助けるという意味より「役に立つ」と言う意味で使っています。
I scared of heights：高所恐怖症／高いところが怖い
⏩ scared of ～で「～(すること) を怖がる」となります。
only slightly：ほんの少しだけ
⏩ onlyは 「〜だけ」slightly が「少し／ちょっと」なので「ほんの少しだけ」となります。
